Shark Fishing in Islamorada, Florida Keys
We want to catch something big!
I've heard this more times than I can count, and every time my answer is "How about Sharks." Their are many reason why Sharks are my go to species when you want an all out fight. Not many fish in the backcountry get as big or aggressive as Sharks. Which means that the majority of time that you are targeting sharks you get just what you asked for. If you put out your chum and your bait you are most likely going to get at least a shark or two. They are the apex predator and thats no coincidence. Their is so much variety in one species, and each have their own personality. Some jump and spin, some make blistering runs that you couldn't stop no matter how hard you try, and some just play tug of war. I like to fish them on the lightest tackle I think we can get away with. We catch them all different ways, chumming and dead baiting, Sight fishing, (actually watching the shark in calm shallow water and casting the bait to it) and even Fly Fishing.
