CAPTAIN TONY MELTON
Hey everyone! I'm Capt. Tony. I grew up in rural East Texas and learned my love for fishing at an early age from my Dad and my Grandmother. We would spend our weekends fishing in creeks, rivers, and lakes near our home. We had so much fun. It was a great way to spend time with my family and spend time outdoors. All of our family vacations involved the outdoors and fishing. As soon as I was old enough to work and save money I bought myself a boat and it was on. I spent my time after school loading up the boat and heading to the lake. I began fishing local tournaments and doing fairly well. Then I discovered Saltwater and Sea Trout and Redfish. Uh Oh I was hooked! I got an awesome proposal from a family friend to come to Islamorada Florida and fish a lot and work a little. I jumped on the opportunity even though at the time I really didn't know much about this little fishing village. We drove down and started fishing oh yea and working. We stayed for much much longer than we planned, and when it was finally time to go home I was not happy. How could I leave a place that was so beautiful and so abundant with fish. On the way home I started working on getting my Captains License. I knew what I had to do. When we got home. I almost immediately started packing my things. I had the hard conversation with my parents that I was going to be moving and left for my new home. It wasn't easy but it was totally worth it. I had a job working on the water, mating and Captaining a tour boat while I honed my skills and learned the waters. Eventually I met a great guy that gave me a start in fishing. I owe him so much, because without his help it is very doubtful that you would be reading this. We worked together for years and I learned a lot through that opportunity. Now I have been here for almost 10 years and as cliche as it may sound l'm living my dream. I am in my early 30's and my life revolves around fishing. How awesome is that?
